Did you see the story in your local newspaper or on television news or hear it on radio news this week?
I thought not. I didn't either although I did read on the internet about the horror ongoing in London. Our media tend to ignore news like this.
In this case, a 5-year-old child, a beautiful little girl, is facing the medical decision to refuse her treatment and she will be "allowed" to die. The medical establishment has spoken.
This is going on just a week after a court in France ordered a disabled man be starved to death in a hospital. Despite the objections of Vincent Lambert's parents, he was forced to die.
Forced? Yes. That's what happens when food and water is not given to a human being. It took Vincent nine days of horror before he succumbed. Keep in mind, it was considered acceptable "medical treatment."
I wrote about it for WND last week, only to learn of the life-and-death battle going on at the Royal London Hospital where doctors have literally sentenced 5-year-old Tafida Raqeeb to death. Her parents are fighting the decision, but so far to no avail.
It was on Feb. 9 that the child suffered a type of brain hemorrhage which left her able to open her eyes and move her limbs, but she was otherwise generally unresponsive.
The doctors at the hospital say she is brain dead and that, as reported by Church Militant, it's in "the child's best interest (to withdraw) life sustaining treatment."
UK physicians have made the decision despite a brain stem test showing she is not dead. Regardless. her doctors are convinced she will never recover from her minimally conscious state. They want to remove her from the ventilator, which will result in her death.
The doctors are taking their case to the courts while Tafida's parents are seeking other medical help. They've found a hospital in Italy, the Gaslini Pediatric Hospital in Genoa, where a medical evaluation was done via video. Physicians there feel they can help the child – but the powers that be in London say NO and are refusing to allow the parents to remove the child from their hospital and get help elsewhere.
Initially, the child was treated; but then on June 19, the parents were told bluntly that treatment would be withdrawn and, if the parents didn't agree, the hospital would get a court order.
The parents were asked where they wanted the child to die and on what day it would happen.
A petition by Change.org asking that the child be allowed to go to the hospital of the parent's choice has been signed by more than 7,000 people.
The Daily Mail newspaper was given a statement by the Royal London Hospital saying their experts, along with independent medical experts, have determined "that further invasive medical treatment is futile."
Tafida's parents are petitioning the U.K. High Court to force doctors to release the girl and say they will use their own money to transport the child to Italy for further treatment. In addition, they are issuing a petition asking the U.K. Parliament to force doctors to release her.
What a twisted world medical treatment in the UK has become when medical personnel can make decisions for parents and literally refuse their right to remove their child from the hospital and get treatment somewhere else.
I have been following and written about news like this. You may recall the cases last year of Alfie Evans and of Charlie Gard in London. Both children were told treatment would be stopped and the parents were NOT allowed to remove the babies from the hospital for treatment elsewhere.
In both of those cases, the UK courts refused to recognize the desires of the parents, and in both cases treatment was stopped and the children died.
Church Militant reported that after the death of 23-month-old Alfie Evans in April of 2018, Charlie Gard's parents said: "For those who have not been in a situation like this, it is impossible to understand the pain Tom and Kate (Alfie's parents) are going through."
What those parent and their families went through was pure hell; and it appears such treatment of parental rights is par for the course in the UK. This is what happens when "authorities" are given power over the rights of parents when it comes to the treatment and care of their children.
Consider the uproar over vaccinations in this country. When will the state have the right to remove children from parental care if they refuse the shots? We have already seen reports of children taken from parental care for lesser offenses. Did you see the news this week about children taken from parental care because their school lunches were unpaid?
This all smacks of Big Brother and an out-of-control government. Don't think it can't (and won't) happen here. It can and will, because the door is already opened more than a crack.
Pray for beautiful little Tafida Raqeeb. She is balanced on the line between life and death as her parents battle the bureaucracy of the UK government.
