Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, trying to hold onto his job following his horrific comments about aborting children after they’re born, is going on a statewide “listening tour” about blackface and race.
Northam has been embroiled in a double-dose of scandals. Defending an abortion-until-birth bill in the state legislature, he discussed in a radio interview aborting babies who already have been born.
His words: “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then, a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Shortly after the interview, someone unearthed a page from his medical school yearbook with a photo, under his name, showing one person in blackface and another in a KKK outfit.
He apologized but then later denied being either person.
Talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh said Northam appears to be trying to deflect attention from his stance on abortion.
“Ralph Northam is desperate to keep hidden his views on late-term and post-birth abortion,” Limbaugh said Tuesday. “Ralph Northam is happy for everybody to be focused on the blackface photo in the medical school yearbook, standing next to some grand wizards of the Ku Klux Klan or people dressed as such. So Ralph Northam – in his continuing effort to rehabilitate his-self — has announced a listening tour through the state of Virginia.
“Ralph Northam is gonna conduct a listening tour about race and blackface, and he’s going to allow his constituents to inform him what they think about blackface and race. He’s also made some proposals. He apologized for what happened and what showed up in the yearbook, and his proposals here (which come under the ‘making amends’ umbrella) are he wants to put statues of noteworthy African-Americans in museums. He is going to embark upon a reconciliation tour in which he’s going to listen to people about race and blackface.
“He has promised the people of Virginia that he is gonna read up on reparations. He is going to promise full access to state contracts to minorities. He’s going to work as hard as he ever has worked on anything to enroll more residents in Medicaid, and then he has promised to go and attend sensitivity training so that he, Ralph Northam, will get his mind right,” Limbaugh said.
But his abortion comment “gets swept under the rug for this blackface episode. Nobody is focusing on that aspect of it. I find it fascinating,” he said.
Northam, wrote WND columnist Andy Schlafly, approves of infanticide.
The “discussion” Northam referenced, he explained, “would be whether to leave the baby on a table without care or sustenance until it stops breathing and turns cold.”
“The practice of abandoning a newborn to die is known as infanticide, which the civilized world has prohibited since Christianity took over the Roman Empire in the fourth century A.D.”
