Lately I've been gathering headlines on examples of leftist violence. I have dozens of links, way more than I can post here. To save time, space and word count, take a look at this list of 603 – let me spell that: six hundred and three (and counting) acts of media-approved violence and harassment against Trump supporters chronicled over the last three years.
Are these activities conducted by balanced, rational individuals working toward a better America? Of course not.
The left is ratcheting up its activism as the midterm elections approach. The mainstream media have been complicit in normalizing and justifying all the violence against Trump supporters. What the left (including politicians) is saying is this: It's perfectly fine – even encouraged – to use brutality against those with whom you disagree.
How do you reason with the unreasonable? How do you apply logic to the illogical? How can we expect civilized behavior from the uncivilized?
You can't. The left is clearly attracting the worst kind of people. It's pulling in those who thrive on violence, discord, brutality and narcissism.
But the more extreme the activists become, the more mainstream liberals will pull away. This is why the #WalkAway movement has been gaining momentum as many former progressives become disgusted with the intolerance and injustice they see. "For far too long, the left has controlled the narrative in this country within the news media," notes the WalkAway website, "while the 'silent majority' on the right have done what they always do – remain silent. The left has been allowed to reinforce the narrative that everybody on the right is a bigot, a racist, a homophobe, a misogynist, etc. The left has become so extreme and hateful that it is now time to fight back! … This is a movement of Patriots from all walks of life – men, women, black, brown, white, straight, LGBTQ, religious, and non-believers – who share something very important in common: We are all Americans and we will not surrender our country."
"Nervous" Dems are asking themselves whether another Election Day disaster could strike again. "Democratic energy is at nuclear levels," Steve Israel, a former DCCC chairman, assures us. "Democrats would crawl over broken glass to vote in this election."
Are you sure, Mr. Israel? Because I have news for you: That broken glass you reference comes from car windows and storefronts smashed by left-wing activists. That broken glass is ratcheting up energy on the right and the middle to nuclear levels as well – levels of disgust at what the extreme left is doing to our country.
I wonder if it's every occurred to activists that the more violent the left becomes, the stronger the reaction will be at the voting booth. While I might disagree politically with progressives, the vast majority are just ordinary law-abiding people striving to make a living and raise their families. They don't want to be associated with violent thugs who terrorize peaceful communities.
But the far-left – fueled by endless George Soros funding – is doing what Soros does best: destroying nations, either politically or economically. The useful idiots are merrily helping him along, uncaring of the fate that so often awaits useful idiots.
According to Townhall columnist Derek Hunter: "The outrage Democrats have been living off of has morphed into pure rage, and it has to [be] directed somewhere. That's why no Democratic Party leader will seriously condemn the chasing of senators down the hallways, out of restaurants, or harassing them in their homes. … But make no mistake, the mob is real, and it's not spontaneous or accidental. … Expect the mob to continue to rage, well-funded and emboldened by the passive encouragement from their leaders." [Emphasis added.]
To the far-left activists, please grasp this concept: Violence is not convincing. You're not helping your cause by clashing, mobbing, blocking, smashing, beating, chasing, taunting, harassing, confronting, brutalizing, vandalizing, firing, threatening, assaulting, mocking, screaming, menacing, stabbing, accosting, poisoning, badgering, doxxing, spitting, stealing, slashing, destroying, kicking or – God forbid – killing people with whom you disagree.
Karl Marx was credited with saying, "Accuse the victim of what you do." In the political context, this means accusing your opponent of what you yourself are guilty of. So it's grimly hilarious to watch the leftists project their brutality onto conservatives in classic Marxist fashion. They claim they're not violent, even as they assault Republican candidates. They claim they're full of peace and harmony as they throw bricks and frozen water bottles, attack marchers, block traffic and otherwise express their peaceful, harmonious beliefs through societal mayhem. They claim all the violence is coming from the conservatives, who are so full of intolerance the leftists must defend themselves by smashing windows and chasing senior citizens. When leftist activists start attacking peaceful, legal protesters (who went through the proper channels of obtaining city permits), they claim they're "victims" when the protesters hit back. They claim conservative marchers "incite" them to violence, simply by existing. They claim they're peaceful, even when they're the ones starting the fight.
Even leftist city officials join in this farce. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler claimed Patriot Prayer group marchers had "positioned themselves on a rooftop parking structure in downtown Portland with a cache of firearms" during an Aug. 4 march. Armed rooftop protestors with long guns? Why wasn't this national news? Oh yeah, because it didn't happen. The mayor lied to advance the political agenda and excuse the violence of the antifa thugs.
But here's the thing: If the right is so intolerant, WHERE'S THE LIST? Where's the long list of conservatives beating, threatening, attacking, blocking and vandalizing progressives? Where's the list?
(I can see it now. Someone at HuffPo will immediately get a list started. More power to ya, gals.)
The ongoing violence on the ground level, as well as the ongoing call by top Democratic leaders, has one great benefit: It is convincing more and more people the left is nothing but a bunch of thugs-in-waiting, hoping to circumvent the Constitution by judicial activism at the top and street violence at the bottom. This will doubtless contribute to a landslide win by Republicans during the midterm elections.
We can hope.
