Democrats, faced on Friday with headlines such as “Record 155,576,000 employed” and “Flash: Hispanic Unemployment Rate Falls to LOWEST LEVEL,” lashed out against the Trump administration’s accomplishments as “hurting millions of hardworking families.”
Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez said, after the government released its reports: “With slow wage growth, rising health care premiums, and skyrocketing gas prices across the country, Donald Trump’s reckless policies are hurting millions of hardworking families. Trump and Republicans in Congress have been so determined to undermine workers that they held a Supreme Court seat hostage for nearly a year in order to nominate an aggressively anti-union justice, who became the deciding vote in last week’s disgraceful decision in the Janus case.”
Perez said it’s “is all part of the Republican playbook.”
“For decades, Republicans and their wealthy corporate allies have been chipping away at workers’ rights, weakening unions, and depressing wages – all while giving massive tax cuts to the top 1%. And Janus is their most dangerous attack yet,” Perez said.
“Trump and Republicans in Congress are trying to build a winner-take-all economy that enriches their wealthy friends and saddles working families with the bill. Democrats want to create good-paying jobs and build an economy that works for everyone. And we will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with workers and with our brothers and sisters in the labor movement as they fight for the wages, benefits, and livelihood they deserve.”

The Washington Examiner pointed out Democrats “saw nothing positive” in the new June jobs report that highlighted the addition of 213,000 jobs.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, for example, complained that the “wealthiest 1 percent” were being enriched:
The June #JobsReport shows what is at stake from the brewing storm of rising health costs, spiraling trade uncertainty & an economy being hollowed out to enrich big corporations & the wealthiest 1 percent. Americans deserve better than the GOP’s raw deal. https://t.co/WAVwdHh6BN

In a reply to Pelosi’s tweet, Richard Cortez noted: “It’s not a raw deal for Hispanics or blacks. Must be hurting all your special interest income?”
Another reply: “Your tweet is so hypocritical!! This coming from a women (sic) whose net worth is about $30 million. Are you kidding me … you are a part of the 1%.”
“That’s exactly why she hates us doing well. She doesn’t want to share, only take,” said another reply.
The Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics said the number of employed Americans rose to 155,576,000, a 10th record-high during the Trump presidency, CNS News reported Friday.
In addition, average hourly earnings rose 2.7 percent year over year.
LMTonline reported more than 255,000 Americans age 85 and older are still working.
“They’re doing all sorts of jobs – crossing guards, farmers and ranchers, even truckers, as my colleague Heather Long revealed in a front-page story last week. Indeed, there are between 1,000 and 3,000 U.S. truckers age 85 or older, based on 2016 Census Bureau figures. Their ranks have roughly doubled since the Great Recession,” the report said.
President Trump, on Thursday, said: “Our economic policy can be summed up in three very simple but beautiful words. Jobs, jobs, jobs.”
