Margaret Thatcher kept Reagan's doodles

(TELEGRAPH) — To Ronald Reagan they were worthless doodles to get him through a “boring” G7 meeting of world leaders.

But Margaret Thatcher thought they were “rather fun” and she took the sketches home with her to Number 10, newly released files show.

Mrs Thatcher, now Lady Thatcher, sat next to Mr Reagan at the 1981 Ottawa Summit in Canada – attended by leaders of the world’s seven richest countries – and noticed him doodling.

She is thought to have picked up the Republican leader’s sheet of drawings during a break in proceedings and preserved them for posterity among her private papers.
