It’s amazing to consider the different public reaction to two Sports Illustrated stories, separated by a mere 14 years.

Jason Collins’ announcement of his sexuality caused a media sensation and was seen as a positive step forward for the National Basketball Association and professional sports in the U.S.

In fact, the media coverage seemed to be taking a page right out of the script of an episode of “Glee” as sportswriters the nation over sang the praises of Collins’ “courageous” declaration.

Other professional athletes tweeted out their approval and provided their obligatory congratulations. Athletes in the past who had made “homophobic” comments were now lauded for their tolerance, as one tweet can erase a past mired in “ignorance” and bring someone forward into 2013 “enlightenment.”

Chris Broussard, a Christian ESPN commentator who took a fairly strong stand against Collins, will likely receive a smooth talking to by some of the higher-ups at the organization about tolerance and diversity.

Now, on the heels of an announcement that Robbie Rogers, an American professional soccer player who walked away from the game after announcing on Twitter he is gay a few months ago, the entire sports world (or the world of sports journalism) seems to be waiting with bated breath the next to emerge from the proverbial closet and bathe in the sun of instant adulation.

Well, get ready for it; I’m about to make an announcement.

I am not gay, but I am a conservative who speaks impolite truths about topics we’re not supposed to mention in polite society anymore.
And by “polite” society, I mean a culture whose every idea must be vetted through the writers’ room of “Glee” for approval.

I’m looking around, but I don’t see any press excited about my “coming out.” Surprisingly, I don’t think I will receive any tweets, text messages, or emails in the next hour from friends, family, athletes, or bullpen catchers I knew back in the minors telling me how proud they are of me or how “strong” I am.

This whole Jason Collins saga should be a powerful reminder of why those individuals who are in the public eye (primarily athletes and actors) and who also harbor conservative views on politics don’t speak up. For a historical lesson, they can just look at what happened to me back in late 1999-2000 as a case study.

Curiously, like Collins’ announcement, my original “coming out” as a conservative was also in the pages of Sports Illustrated.

A few minutes of searching on Google will pull up a lot of articles that detail the response I received when the Sports Illustrated profile was published.

Robert Griffin III might find himself in some hot water, as I’m sure his agent received calls from the Redskins organization and all of the sales reps for his litany of endorsement deals after he posted cryptic comments on Twitter in the wake of Jason Collins’ announcement.

Griffin made the point that we live under a politically correct tyranny, and, as a former, if not lifelong, member-POW of that same system, I can attest to its power.

In virtually every media interview I’ve done since the Sports Illustrated piece on me from 1999, the first topic that invariably comes up is if I’m sorry and apologize for what I said then.

Funny what an article in Sports Illustrated – a cover story no less – can do for the career of Jason Collins in 2013.

But back to Griffin’s cryptic Twitter comments, which may have been in reference to the recent Collins announcement – they were spot on. We do live in a nation governed by a politically incorrect tyranny, an orthodoxy that targets any individual who dares stray too far from the fields of acceptable discourse.

Look no further than another NFL quarterback who hasn’t been so lucky.

Tim Tebow was told to tone down his faith by the politically correct establishment, which can’t stop talking about Collins’ “courage.”

Despite leading his team to the playoffs in 2011 and acting like a positive role model for today’s youth, he currently finds himself as a man without a job. Some of this has to do with his quarterback style, but let’s not pretend it has nothing to do with his religious views.

Athletes in many ways are a reflection of the culture, but also can be tools used to push a narrative of acceptable and unacceptable behavior.

I’ve been in locker rooms before. The best teams I was on were united to win without the drama from one’s personal life interfering in the day-to-day regimen of focusing on winning a championship.

Unfortunately for me, I didn’t realize that speaking my mind (and having many of comments back in 1999 taken out of context and manipulated to fit the agenda of the journalist writing the Sports Illustrated story) was no longer tolerated if it didn’t fit within the tiny narrative of politically correct verbiage, but instead would conflate into a media vortex that sucked down on my ability to perform as a pitcher in Major League Baseball, as well as becoming a circus and distraction for my teammates.

Those who make politically incorrect statements in America instantly become an enemy of the state, a pariah. There’s not much value in speaking your mind, as I did to Sports Illustrated, only to become the world’s worst person.

But in a sign of the times, Jason Collins spoke his mind to Sports Illustrated and instantly became the world’s best person (for a couple of days at least).

That should put the idea of “courage” into perspective.

Let me start out this piece by extolling my sincerest condolences to the victims and families affected by the Boston Marathon bombers.

It’s now been a fortnight, and this incident still stings in my mind.

The country has not experienced the feelings of fear and insecurity we felt on that day in quite some time.

Additionally, the country has not seen such steadfast bravery from our law enforcement officials, first responders and civilians at the scene of the blast in an even longer amount of time.

Never before, though, had the country experienced the scenes that emanated out of Boston in the days following the bombings.

Government agents, SWAT teams and Boston police marching through deserted streets – a city in lockdown.

Businesses, restaurants, services entirely shut down. Monuments, museums and tourist attractions completely off limits to the public.

De-facto martial law declared throughout the entire Boston metropolitan region with people gripped by the fear that they were about to have their homes raided or see friendly-fire bullets flying through their front windows.

As a former Major League Baseball player (who had to dodge batteries thrown by irate fans when venturing to opposing stadiums), it was unsettling to know that iconic Fenway Park, one of the oldest athletic cathedrals in the entire country, was going to cancel the next day’s Red Sox game as a response to the actions of these individuals.

I can’t remember a time since 9/11 when a city was completely shut down due to the dastardly acts of a small number of barbaric creatures.

Think about this for a moment: not a mass group, but just a couple.

Two guys.

Not two well-trained experts as far as we know. Two young immigrants to America (refuges, actually) who are, if their uncle is to be believed, “losers.”

Further reports state they were living on welfare, and others indicate the youngest Tsarnaev brother was more interested in smoking pot and partying than waging jihad against the United States.

An entire metropolitan area was shut down because two individuals with homemade bombs made from pressure cookers decided to cause mayhem.

The actions of two shut down a metropolitan area for days and allowed for a seeping fear to creep in to the hearts and souls of Boston area residents.

Why so such a draconian approach taken to this situation? Why was martial law basically implemented within the greater Boston area when the suspects were ID’d and being tailed by police officers?

Ironically, Dzhokar Tsarnaev was identified by a suspicious civilian as opposed to the massive army of officers on the street searching tooth and nail for evidence of his whereabouts.

Another solution would have allowed the people of Boston to move freely, the police to get their jobs done and preserve the rights of the overall population.

Brace yourselves – you are about to hear one of the single most controversial phrases in the English lexicon: profiling.

Crime stats dictate that when you are looking for a serial killer, he usually fits a certain profile. When there’s a shooting in downtown Chicago the perpetrator generally fits a certain criteria, which makes Toure and Mark Lamont Hill go into fits of hysteria, but keep in mind, folks, profiles/stereotypes don’t just create themselves. They evolve over time as similar situations repetitively occur consistently involving individuals of a common nature(s).

When a terrorist attack happens, time and time again, the suspect almost always falls along a certain set of easily knowable but – in our politically correct age – unsayable criteria, which helps law enforcement track him down as quickly as possible.

David Sirota, a limp-wristed writer for Salon who earns a living trying to convince the public that white Americans are the greatest threat to the country’s stability, prayed for white American bombers to be the culprits in two separate pieces he published.

He so badly wanted to be able to shove it in the face of Middle America to show that they too are capable of such horrific actions.

While a controversial statement, many on the left silently agreed, ready to feast on the Second Coming of Timothy McVeigh. It wasn’t politically expedient (and exploitable) to those on the left for the terrorists be Muslims.

But back to profiling.

Our friends in Israel do not let a few terrorists grip their entire nation in fear. They go about their daily lives in peace with the knowledge that their government is sensible enough to isolate the select group of individuals who are generally responsible for most of the attacks within their country.

In fact, the Israeli people can sleep comfortably at night knowing the government of Israel actually takes into consideration the best interest of the Israeli people when making decisions – not in doing what is in the best interest of non-Israelis. (Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a country with a government like that?)

When you walk into an Israeli airport you have the usual security details, but instead of a “one size fits all” policy (administered by those oh-so-wonderful TSA agents) their entire security method is structured to focus on suspicious individuals.

As this article points out, instead of terrorizing the entire population, they focus on the “who” not the “what”:

“First, it’s fast – there’s almost no line. That’s because they’re not looking for liquids, they’re not looking at your shoes. They’re not looking for everything they look for in North America. They just look at you,” said Sela. “Even today with the heightened security in North America, they will check your items to death. But they will never look at YOU, at how you behave. They will never look into your eyes … and that’s how you figure out the bad guys from the good guys.”

Israel has a sensible policy through which they deal with potential terror threats, thereby maintaining peace and security that doesn’t inconvenience the majority of the Israeli people – only those who wish to do the Israeli people harm.

America doesn’t operate under such sensible policies.

An entire metro area was shut down because people are not allowed to make judgment calls within their own population.

Now, the National Football League, Major League Baseball and NASCAR are all prepared to follow suit with extra security measures put in place that will make going to one of these events as a spectator just as unpleasant as trying to fly.

Metal detectors, pat-downs and – you know its coming – TSA agents are all security measures that will soon be found at an NFL or MLB stadium near you.

An entire population should not be terrorized to appease the demands of a few. Suspicious characters should be judged, and the citizenry should not have a guilt trip enforced upon them by elites in ivory towers every time they do so.

The Israeli government has it right when it comes to providing security for the people of that nation.

Our government?

Not so much.

With all eyes in the nation glued to the events unfolding in Boston last week, one of the great pitchers in Boston Red Sox lore, Jonathan Papelbon, found himself in the national news as well.

And it had nothing to do with his exploits on the diamond as one of baseball’s best closers over the past seven years.

Now a Philadelphia Phillies closer, Papelbon was asked by a reporter to give his thoughts on what was transpiring in Boston. His reply was certainly not what the reporter was expecting, as Papelbon said, “Today’s day and age has gotten so crazy. Shoot man, Obama wants to take our guns from us and everything. You got all this stuff going on; it’s just a little bit insane for me, man. I’m not sure how to take it.”

Uh-oh.

Take it from me – a Major League Baseball player should do his best to stay out of the news for voicing opinions the press and national media will immediately seize upon and try and give legs.

Even so, what Papelbon said is true.

And in our increasingly leftist-dominated, totalitarian climate of discourse, where the mainstream media serve as little more than 24/7 marketers (cheerleaders) for whatever policy is pushed by the Obama administration and the Democratic National Committee, Papelbon’s slip of the tongue was like throwing fresh chum to the sharks.

We do live in a crazy age, one punctuated by the left’s attack on your Second Amendment rights. State legislatures controlled by Democrats in Connecticut, Colorado and New York were quick to capitalize on recent mass shootings as a casus belli against law-abiding citizens’ right to own a gun.

President Obama has surrounded himself – whenever possible – with the parents of murdered Newtown, Conn., children, as a way to drum up sympathy for his gun bills and always have a visible backdrop of grief to play upon people’s emotions.

Leftists like Barack Obama, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and their allies have decided that only the state should have guns – thereby having a monopoly on violence – because they feel the people of this country aren’t capable of using guns in a constructive manner, only a destructive manner.

Sadly, we no longer live in a country where rational political debate is possible. Before the two Chechen terrorists were captured, members of the mainstream media were actively pushing (with no evidence) “right-wing extremists” or “tea party members” as the perpetrators of this attack. A writer for Salon.com even went so far to write, “Let’s Hope the Boston Bomber is a white American.”

No apology is forthcoming from the outlets that broadcast or published these views. No accountability is held for reckless journalists, either.

With biases such as these, it’s impossible to even try and consider the other side’s opinion and engage in any dialogue.

To the left, Papelbon’s admission that “Obama wants to take our guns from us” translates to the type of image they have of gun-rights enthusiasts. Primarily a white male – most of the time Southern or easily classifiable as a “redneck,” worried about the federal government coming and depriving them of their rights.

To the left, pseudo-intellectuals or those with the right Eastern Establishment credentials (a degree from an Ivy League school) always know what is best for America, and Papelbon’s brand of free speech, they demand, is exactly the kind of divisive talk that must come to an end.

One of my former Atlanta Brave teammates, Mark Wohlers, has become an outspoken advocate for gun rights via his Twitter page (be sure to follow him here) and quickly became the target of activist-writer Jeff Pearlman.

Pearlman recently wrote on his blog this about Mark Wohlers and his defense of the Second Amendment (just insert Jonathan Papelbon’s name wherever he writes Mark’s):

I am Twitter friends with Mark Wohlers.

I’m uncertain whether the phrase “Twitter friends” actually exists. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. Regardless, we’re Twitter friends. I follow him. He follows me. The above image is from his Twitter feed. Good times.

I’m guessing Mark Wohlers doesn’t know who I am, even though I covered the Majors during much of his career. However, I know who he is. I know because, as the gun debate heats up in this country, men like Wohlers (they’re most always men) suddenly feel the need to make themselves heard. They are not just store keepers and farmers and lawyers and electricians and retired ballplayers. No, they are gun owners. They loathe Obama, value personal liberty and damn well won’t just sit back and watch as we liberal folks take away their Second Amendment rights.

Hell no.

The thing is, men like Mark Wohlers often see themselves as the victims. They’re the ones being marginalized; they’re the ones being suppressed by the government; they’re the one clinging to the last morsels of patriotism.

Pearlman, his writing dripping in sanctimony, shows you the political left’s attitude toward anyone voicing concern with a push for gun control and what that will mean to both personal freedoms and to notions of liberty (the ability to defend oneself from tyranny).

They believe they know better than you do as to how you should be protected.

Jonathan Papelbon was right to speak up about the threat of the Obama administration coming for your guns, for if he played for the Rockies in Denver, or the Mets or Yankees in New York, the Democrat-controlled state government there would have already done much to erode his rights.

Professional athletes are in a position where they have access to a media whose members are highly cognizant of the fact that they must publish quality sound bites/stories to sell advertisement space and “create” stories where they don’t exist.

My hope is more athletes will begin to speak up as Papelbon did. Your time in the majors goes by in the blink of an eye; your constitutional rights could be gone just that fast if we aren’t careful in defending them.

The good old “Gang of Eight,” those Republican and Democrat senators who have declared war on the American taxpayer, are hoping this is the week an immigration bill can be hammered out.

Though the Associated Press will no longer call them “illegal immigrants” – Jay Leno put it best when he said they would be called “undocumented Democrats” – the Gang of Eight is bound and determined to set in motion an amnesty that will remake all of America into just another version of the failed state of California.

But the Gang of Eight will go down on the “right side of history” by doing this charitable act, won’t they? Liberal academics will applaud the brave stance these statesmen, these architects of a more open and tolerant America took in opening the floodgates of cheap labor for businesses to instantly increase their profit margins.

All at the expense of the American worker, the American middle class and, worse, those Americans currently taking out student loans to pay for a college education that no longer offers a ticket to acquiring the so-called American Dream.

Consider that recent reports indicate a huge influx of “undocumented Democrats” flooding across the Mexico/Arizona border, with some even having the temerity to ask, “Where do we go to get our amnesty?”

It wasn’t but a few years ago that Sen. John McCain, one of the heavyweights behind the bipartisan Gang of Eight was in a re-election battle for his Senate seat with challenger J.D. Hayworth.

Back in April of 2010, “McCain joined with fellow Arizona Republican Sen. Jon Kyl to introduce a 10-point plan to secure the border.”

The proposal included sending 3,000 National Guard troops to the border, but said nothing about a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens.

McCain even acknowledged the change of heart on the issue, telling Bill O’Reilly on April 19, 2010: “I changed [my mind] over a year ago, as you know. The violence on the border is incredible.”

What happened to McCain since he told O’Reilly the violence on the Arizona/Mexico border was so incredible it caused him to change his mind on the immigration issue?

Well, he won an election, ensuring him six more years as a senator from the state of Arizona.

Now, he wants to ensure his legacy as a great man of compassion, who had a vision of turning all of America into not another bankrupt state of California but one where the “violence on the border is incredible,” is no longer only a burden for Arizona to shoulder alone.

That’s not how the liberal academics and the Mainstream Media will portray the moment when the Gang of Eight emerges victorious in their quest to unify the Democratic Party with the “respectable members” of the Republican Party into one-party rule over an increasingly disjointed nation.

They will be lauded, showered with praise for allowing reason and compassion to triumph over the nativism and bigotry that kept these “undocumented Democrats” from coming out of the shadows, while the American taxpayer will see entitlement spending – already growing exponentially under President Obama – increase dramatically.

To the tune of “trillions“:

“‘According to what has been publicly reported about the Gang of Eight’s forthcoming immigration bill, there appears to be a major flaw that could allow millions of illegal immigrants to access federal welfare benefits and poverty programs,’ the GOP Budget Committee staff wrote in a statement to media.”

At a time when unemployment rates are still high, when large numbers of Americans are so discouraged in their job search they are dropping out of the labor market and when families are having to find every shortcut in their monthly budgets just to provide basic necessities to put food on the table, the Gang of Eight is prepared to give each and every one of the aforementioned groups the middle finger and say they’d rather have permanent cheap labor then help out Americans in need.

Who needs a middle class anyway, right, when increased profit margins due to decreased labor costs equal higher stock valuations?

So you no longer have a country, but your portfolio has never been better!

Were a smart Republican (or even a Democrat in a heavily blue-collar state like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, or Iowa) to survey the Gang of Eight push for amnesty and realize that these senators are proposing a traitorous piece of legislation that will flood the labor force and forever change the definition of “middle class” in this nation, they’d instantly position themselves to the right of this monstrous legislation.

No, not just to the right, but on the side of the American people.

They would then call for not just increased border security, but deportation of illegal aliens currently being held in our jails (at the taxpayers expense). Along with the deportation, they’d also send a bill to each nation where the offender originated from and demand remuneration for being held in our prison system.

They would push for a bill similar to Arizona SB 1070to be passed in their state.

They would side with recent college graduates in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), who find themselves saddled with student loans and searching for jobs in an industry where businesses find using H-1B visas a cheaper alternative. They’d side with them by calling for an end to the H-1B scam.

More to the point, they’d reach out to the important under-30 vote by calling for student loan forgiveness. What’s worse – student loan forgiveness or amnesty for 11 million “undocumented Democrats”? Instead of paying interest toward a loan for a degree many can’t even use, why not let young college graduates save their income and invest it into the economy (or better yet, use it to help fund their own entrepreneurial efforts?)

They’d call for a five-year moratorium on legal immigration as well. America can be a melting pot again, but like any nation we have the duty to look after our people first.

The American people are going to need bold leadership to save this nation. That doesn’t mean the type of bold ideas that get you positive press and accolades from the radical left, liberal academics and the MSM, but the kind of bold ideas that work to help make life better for the American people.

That’s the true role of a statesmen.

And that’s what the American people need right now.

Over the past few months, my e-mail inbox has been filled with the same viral video. Sent by friends, obviously shared many times over, the video depicts a lonely security guard near Underground Atlanta attempting to maintain a modicum of order so some level of commercial activity can exist at the Metro Mall.

With a video camera strapped to his chest, Darien Long has broadcast to the world the type of day-to-day tasks and demeanor necessary to provide security in what amounts to Third World conditions not far from Olympic Centennial Park.

There’s a reason the recently retired Neal Boortz lashed out that Atlanta needed a “few more dead thugs” a couple of years back, only to be excoriated by the compassionate left for doing so. When you watch Darien attempt to keep loiterers out of the Metro Mall in downtown Atlanta – in one case, having to use a taser on one woman as her three young children taunt him using foul language (warning: explicit language) – it’s only natural that you side with his version of “law and order.”

It frames Boortz’ rant in a whole different perspective, too.

Back when the video of Long’s initial confrontation went viral, the Atlanta Journal Constitution scored an interview with him. In that revealing article, the conditions of the economic terrain he tries to provide security paint a Mad Max-style world lurking in the shadows of government buildings:

Metro Mall is located in the heart of Five Points, shouting distance from federal buildings, the Georgia State Capitol, Atlanta City Hall and the Fulton County Courts.

Yet, the area tingles with crime and vice. Prostitutes roam freely and drug dealers ply their trade in broad daylight, while lawyers and government workers go to work and college students try to get to class.

Welcome to Long’s world, which is not without risk. Among the thousands of online comments praising him on social media are also ominous warnings about his safety.

“My mother is afraid one of these fools is gonna shoot me in the back,” Long said. “A lot of people think I need more protection. They are probably right.”

Prostitutes, drug dealers, lawyers and government workers all working together to create crime and vice, right?

No, those lawyers and government workers quickly retreat from the area just as soon as their 9-5 day ends, leaving a man like Darien Long behind to capture a compelling look at why urban America is often a difficult backdrop for businesses to succeed.

Just look at the extraordinary measures he must take to try and keep bad elements from overrunning the mall; he’s tasked with providing security too, and you immediately realize why so few legitimate businesses can stay open in this type of environment.

Not far away from the mall Long works to protect is a Waffle House at Underground Atlanta that charges customers a 20 percent surcharge to help cover the costs for a security guard.

You read the last paragraph correctly.

A 20 percent surcharge to – in the words of the vice president of Waffle House – “ensure the safety of our employees and customers. In an effort to be proactive we are being upfront and adding a 20 percent surcharge to help offset the cost of private security.”

When you watch the footage Long has captured while on his security duty, it shouldn’t be difficult to understand why such a 20 percent surcharge is necessary to safely enjoy a waffle.

Is your life worth an additional 20 percent tax on a meal already grossly high on the calories side?

This is the type of world Darien Long fought to bring order and justice to, and for his unorthodox actions became an Internet sensation.

For those on the left who blasted Neal Boortz for his on-air tirade about “more dead thugs” needed in Atlanta to make the city safer, you can rest easy knowing Darien Long recently lost his job providing security to the Metro Mall.

It can go back to being just another business overrun with prostitutes and drug dealers, an area not far from where lawyers and government workers spend their days willfully ignoring the anarchy outside their windows.

While the pimps, prostitutes and thugs (who have contributing to creating a situation in Atlanta where a Waffle House must charge customers 20 percent extra to hire a security guard) rejoice in Long’s firing, one vendor at the Metro Mall shined a light on the small act of heroism his presence produced.

Francisca Shokane, an owner of the hair salon at the mall, said, “Before they hired Darien, they used to rob our customers and snatch pursues,” Shokane told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Now it is much better and safer. They don’t come in here and bother us anymore.”

Those living in the suburbs of not just Atlanta, but any major city in America, can watch the videos Darien Long took while on security patrol and immediately have their prejudices and stereotypes of these urban areas confirmed.

Immediately, they have visual proof of why they avoid these areas.

But it is in the actions of one man, Darien Long, that you see the type of mentality necessary to restore order from the chaos and anarchy of these urban areas. That will continue to require legitimate business to charge a 20 percent surcharge on meals if they are to stay open.

To paraphrase Neal Boortz, “Atlanta and urban America don’t need more dead thugs. They need men with the character and tenacity of Darien Long to step forward and restore order.”

For most hardworking Americans who faithfully vote Republican every election cycle, the GOP-Beltway establishment Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is an event they don’t pay attention to at all.

Held annually in Washington, D.C., CPAC is the ultimate gathering of Republican officeholders from across the nation and the various grass-roots organizations, think tanks and conservative nonprofits – all conspiring to restore the luster to the republic of the United States.

Again, most hardworking Americans who show up dutifully to the polls without any “outreach” efforts from the GOP or any real guaranteed return on their investment for voting Republican don’t care about what transpires at CPAC – but they should.

At the 2013 CPAC meeting, the national GOP decided to completely abandon those stalwart Republican voters who only ask that their elected representatives defend the Constitution and instead sought a new group of currently ineligible voters to court: illegal immigrants and their soon-to-be legal progeny.

Call it the “Conspiracy of People against Conservatives,” a gathering of individuals actively hostile to the interests of the American people. Ideas and initiatives are discussed that are harmful to your average American family that doesn’t care about the national debt, but does care about their own personal debt and finding ways to save money to put their kids through college.

Meanwhile, those engineers of a new America at CPAC hope to find ways to pass the DREAM Act so that the GOP can appear more “inclusive” and “tolerant” to potential Hispanic voters.

Republican candidates and officials have a lock on positions in the Southern states, and continue to do well all across the nation, including in blue states like Massachusetts and New Jersey, but at the national level, the GOP elite have decided that a merger with the Democratic elite is the best way to properly run a nation.

Save for Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Steve King, Donald Trump and Ann Coulter, the bulk of the speakers at this year’s CPAC were firmly on the side of amnesty for illegal aliens. So, you, the average, pay-your-taxes, abide-by-the-law, raise 2.1 kids, and show up every November to vote Republican type American might not care about CPAC, but you should understand that the feeling is mutual.

Your vote isn’t good enough, with the architects of this year’s CPAC deciding that the political climate currently found in California is the desired choice for the future of this nation.

Ann Coulter laid it all on the line during her speech at the “Conspiracy of People against Conservatives” conference, when she directly challenged the leaders of this attack on the conservative base by saying, “What public policy will harm average Americans, drive up unemployment, change America permanently in negative ways and, on the other hand, is supported by businessmen who will never vote for a Republican anyway? Amnesty for illegal aliens. And half of elected Republicans support it. As far as I can tell, most conservative talk-radio and TV hosts support it. You want the Republican establishment? That’s the Republican establishment.”

To her credit, Coulter realizes the importance of the issue of illegal immigration and how the California-zation of the nation will occur overnight if some form of amnesty passes through Congress.

Just like the Democratic and Republican national establishment, Coulter calls herself a “one-issue” voter, though she sides with the American people; the GOP and DNC are both aligned to “elect a new people.”

Donald Trump busted open the CPAC piñata and ended the amnesty fiesta with his speech, telling the crowd the painful truth they foolishly refuse to acknowledge:

“The fact is 11 million [legalized illegals] will be voting Democratic. You can be out front. You can be the spearhead. You can do whatever you want to do, but every one of those 11 million people will be voting Democratic,” he said. “It is just the way it works.”

“You have to be very, very careful, because you could say that to a certain extent the odds aren’t looking so great for Republicans, that you are on a suicide mission,” he said. “You are just not going to get those votes.”

No, your average conservative in the heartland of America, loyal Republican voter working on a ranch in southern Arizona, or taxpayer in the northern suburbs of Atlanta probably hasn’t heard of CPAC, but rest assured the GOP establishment is no longer interested in hearing your voice on the issue of amnesty.

With CPAC concluded, the GOP establishment made clear the goal of “electing a new people” and formally endorsed immigration reform (amnesty), deciding to invest $10 million to reach minority voters.

The RNC report acknowledged the GOP has somehow been “turning off” minority voters with their policies. When did, at least in the eyes of the GOP, the idea of personal accountability become a trait exclusive to white people? And when did the the path to individual prosperity via self-sufficient instead become reliance upon the state?

The most interest portion of the report, though, stated something that seemingly contradicts the findings of the RNC: that with state-level GOP candidates doing so well, the “federal wing” must learn from what they are doing.

You know why the GOP does so well on the state-level? Because people care more about how laws passed in their states will affect their lives on the local/community level and how their hard-earned tax dollars will be redistributed or spent.

Don’t believe me? Just look at what’s happening in the suburbs of Atlanta, where 40 years of fiscal mismanagement has finally convinced Republicans to separate from the Democratic stronghold of Fulton County and incorporate new cities that better serve their needs.

So you might have no idea what CPAC is, or care about what a bunch of policy wonks and members are the RNC/GOP establishment are doing in conspiring to “elect a new people.”

Good.

What’s happening in your local community is far more important than what is happening in Washington, because you have the ability to act as a watchdog against the election of Republicans whose desire for attending CPAC and hobnobbing with those establishment individuals is greater than their desire for working to pass laws that protect your community and the ability of you and your children to live in a prosperous nation.

Amnesty is suicide for the Republican Party, and those in power of the RNC, GOP and CPAC want to be sure it’s an assisted suicide.

A tip of the ball cap is due in the direction of the junior senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul, for his courageous filibuster last week during debate of John Brennan’s CIA nomination.

Rand Paul simply wanted an assurance from Attorney General Eric Holder that President Obama couldn’t issue a drone strike on a noncombatant American on U.S. soil, so for 13 hours he engaged in a dramatic filibuster. The next day he would receive a letter from the man who runs Department of Justice with an answer:

“It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: ‘Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?’ The answer to that question is no.”

Now, why on earth would a man as distinguished as Rand Paul be worried about the president of the United States having the constitutional authority to issue “drone” strikes on Americans? (If by some chance you are not familiar, they are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles drone operators fly around like a video game, earning medals that outrank combat medals like the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.)

Probably for the same reason people across the country are realizing you no longer need to wear a tin-foil hat to be worried about the incredible bulk purchasing of ammo by the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS has issued an open purchase order for a whopping 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition – media reports indicating “some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers.”

That’s an awful lot of bullets.

“What might they be for?” is a perfectly valid question, just as Sen. Paul’s quest to find out if President Obama has the authority to launch drone strikes on American citizens on U.S. soil.

Let’s get one thing straight: Were America a healthy nation, whose elected officials had the best interests of the actual American people at heart, would we even need to worry about either of these stories?

The answer is an unequivocal “no.”

The Democratic Party is a loose coalition of perpetually aggrieved “victim groups” determined to uproot all of America’s traditions with a never-ending “progressive” agenda; those currently at the top of Republican Party merely want a seat at the ruling table, where left-leaning individuals have always chosen the items on the menu.

Were America a healthy nation, with a government whose elected officials were only interested in protecting the life, liberty and property of the American people (instead of an army of faceless, unaccountable bureaucrats and lobbyists whose livelihood depends on the continual growth of government), there would be absolutely no fear of a hypothetical president of the United States ordering drone strikes on a “noncombatant” citizen.

Instead, drones would be one of the first lines – not to mention cheapest and most effective – in the defense of the integrity of our borders.

Were America a healthy nation, drones with sophisticated technology would ensure that both the borders with Mexico and Canada were secure, immediately tracking areas of the border that were vulnerable for either illegal-alien crossing or potential drug routes.

We are not that healthy country, however – our government releases hundreds of illegal aliens held in local jails (blaming looming budget cuts) while a vindictive, spiteful Obama administration cancels White House tours and sends emails out to the Agriculture Department instructing officials “not to find ways to lessen the impact of the sequestration.” One employee was told by email, “[Y]ou need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.”

No, the American people do not have individuals – elected or unelected – within the federal government, in charge of executing the Constitution of the United States of America, that have their best interests in mind.

Those inside the Washington, D.C., Beltway, occupying positions of authority within think tanks, non-profits and, of course, the various governmental departments and Congress, are only interested in protecting their positions of authority and influence.

This is why the filibuster by Rand Paul was exciting to watch, knowing that for a time period that was all too brief American’s had the opportunity to see what having an elected representative to the government who puts the interests of the American people ahead of American government looks like.

Rand Paul was right to push for an answer regarding the constitutionality of the usage of drones in lethal attacks on noncombatant American civilians, precisely because it is without question that many occupying positions of power in the halls of Congress (and in the unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy of the government, such as the DHS) don’t have the interests of the American people guiding their decision-making process. They only do what is best to consolidate their own power, at the expense of the American people’s life, liberty and property.

America can be a healthy nation again – a proud, strong republic whose elected officials go to Washington not as a means to enrich their own pockets, but to make sure laws aren’t passed that restrict the American people’s ability to earn a living, innovate, accumulate wealth and prosper according to each individual’s definition.

Right now it’s the other way around.

And for this reason, we have every right both to fear the usage of drones and ask why the DHS is purchasing billions of rounds of ammo.

You ever read something so stupid, you weren’t immediately sure if it was supposed to be hyperbole? Harry Binswanger, an acolyte of Ayn Rand and Objectivism, just published what amounts to the most asinine column in the history of columns – published at Forbes.com, it’s titled, “Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants Is Not Enough, They Deserve An Apology.”

Atlas didn’t shrug because of the growth of the state; Atlas shrugged because of this piece by Binswanger, hoping to shake individuals such as him off his back. It is these open-border fanatics who advocate the same policies that turned the once golden state of California into the actual manifestation of their ideas.

And yet, Binswanger is still delusional enough to believe that illegal aliens are the answer to creating Rand’s fabled “Galt’s Gulch.”

Take this line from his Forbes.com piece:

“The illegals came here because they value America. They broke an unjust law in order to live a free, better, richer life. In the vast majority of cases, obeying anti-immigration laws would mean never getting to live here. It’s a life sentence.”

Illegal aliens don’t value America – they value the type of conditions Americans have created in America, which, absent of actual Americans, don’t exist.

As was the case with California, those conditions “illegals value” began to crumble when the actual American people were replaced with a population of illegal aliens dependent on the state for their very existence.

If the American government actually enforced our laws and protected the integrity of our border, there would be no threat from illegal aliens, and the American people would be able to live a “free, better, richer life” instead of watching their tax dollars be redistributed to pay for what amounts to colonization.

Sadly, many conservatives and members of the Republican Party believe that throwing up the white flag and surrendering to this colonization is the best way to move the party forward and remain competitive in future national elections.

It’s curious that Binswinger and other conservatives seem so keen to consider an ethnic group that believes, by a vast majority, in abortion rights, gay marriage and bigger government to be viable additions to their movement in America.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek reported that powerful exit data showed the GOP would have to adopt the Democratic position on a number of key issues to attract Hispanic voters:

“Take the repeal of Obamacare, a conservative rallying point that was central to Romney’s campaign. The Latino Decisions exit poll showed that by a large margin, 61-25 percent, Hispanics want to keep the health-care law in place. On the other great Republican obsession, deficit reduction, Hispanics once again differ sharply with Republicans about what to do: 77 percent of Hispanics want to pay for it by raising taxes on the wealthy or combining higher taxes with spending cuts; only 12 percent favor cuts alone. And contra [Charles] Krauthammer, they don’t share the Republican position on abortion: Exit polls showed that 66 percent of Hispanics believe abortion should be legal, a higher percentage than the population overall.”

All the while the state of California stands there as a shining example of a “objectivist” paradise, where the GOP has absolutely no chance of ever carrying the state in a presidential election again.

Luckily for those right-thinking American’s who believe that amnesty for 10-20 million illegal aliens spells the absolute doom of the nation (the “Californication of the nation”) an academic from the University of Houston has published a study that blows apart the idea that pro-immigration Republicans will do well with Latino voters.

Dr. George Hawley’s study shows that:

Among House Republican incumbents in 2006 there was a great deal of variation in immigration voting records.

Latinos living in congressional districts with pro-immigration Republican incumbents were no more likely to support the incumbent than Latinos living in districts with Republican incumbents with more restrictive immigration records.

Adopting pro-immigration policies is unlikely to increase the Republican share of the Latino vote based on these results.

There is some evidence that pro-immigration Republican incumbents did worse among non-Hispanic whites, indicating that supporting amnesties is likely to cost Republicans votes among non-Hispanic white voters.

These findings are consistent with what occurred after the 1986 IRCA amnesty for illegal immigrants, signed by President Reagan. The Republican Party lost Latino support from the 1984 to the 1988 presidential election.

Hawley’s analysis is devastating to those conservatives and Republicans prepared to raise the white flag on the immigration issue and believe they can “live más” with the consequences.

It’s just as foolish an idea as believing Binswanger is correct when he claims we owe illegal aliens an apology.

If anyone is owed an apology, it’s the American people; for decades, elected representatives to our government (Republican and Democrat) and unelected, unaccountable employees of both the State Department and the Department of Justice have sided with illegal aliens.

Meanwhile, the state of California in 2013 is a vivid, powerful reminder of what happens when the government decides to “elect a new people” by displacing Americans who were responsible and creating the economic conditions that attracted the illegal immigrants there in the first place.

Just a warning: If you are looking for something lighthearted, go YouTube one of the Oscar winner’s acceptance speeches and X out of this window immediately.

A disturbing video was posted last week that illustrated one of the mandatory re-education programs government employees in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) were forced to attend.

The “educator” leading the program forces everyone in the room to “thank black folks.”

He forces them to repeat in cult-like mantra that “America was founded by outsiders, who are today’s insiders, who get very nervous about today’s outsiders.”

He claimed the pilgrims were “illegal aliens” and spends the next few minutes promoting amnesty.

The indoctrination, paid for by you the taxpayer, even included this humiliating, mandatory, sing-a-long by all those in attendance who were forced to repeat together, “Every federal agency has discriminated against African-Americans, Hispanics, Native American Indians and other groups.”

At the end of the video, the instructor claims he does not like the term minorities and then mockingly claims they should instead be called “emerging majorities.”

Reminiscent of the re-education centers of Maoist China or Soviet Russia, this clearly illustrates the government’s goal in promoting the state religion of white guilt with acceptance of equality-of-outcome as the only salvation.

It’s all too clear the political class within the United States is viciously opposed to middle-America Caucasians.

The political class ignores concern about rampant illegal immigration, which is destroying the United States.

They ignore fears about our budgetary crisis, which will result in a debt inherited by your children and grandchildren.

The political class ignores gun-control statistics and continues to scapegoat responsible gun owners as dangerous menaces to society.

Rest assured, though: The political class might ignore your concerns, but they are not ignoring you.

The United States government is apparently readying itself for a massive war against Middle America.

As reported on Alex Jones’ Infowars.com, targets with images of gun-wielding children, grandparents and pregnant mothers have been purchased by law enforcement agencies.

According to Infowars, the company Law Enforcement Targets Inc. has over $ 5.5 million dollars worth of contracts with the federal government.

Over $2 million of those contracts are with the Department of Homeland Security.

The article also points out that the DHS has purchased billions of rounds of ammunition.

The DHS supposedly has on hand about five bullets for each man, woman and child living in the United States.

Dark times my friends, very dark times.

If Waco and Ruby Ridge tell us anything, it’s that the federal government has a history of killing non-traditional combatants like young mothers and innocent kids.

The choice seems to be clear. Adjust, or we’re prepared to eliminate you.

The government seems to have a clear understanding that to achieve the diverse America they have plotted out, most Americans need to be forcibly brainwashed.

At the very least, they hope most will go along with the herd if they understand that their ability to economically sustain themselves in the job market comes under threat if they dissent from the diversity narrative.

Take it from me.

I was a target of the diversity-government complex myself at the hands of what some refer to as the “fourth branch of the U.S. government” – the liberal media.

After a number of statements that dared to question the merits of multicultural America were published in what amounted to a Sports Illustrated hit piece, the liberal media went into overdrive.

It seemed as if the entire polyglot city of New York (formerly of America) was ready to hang me in the center of Times Square.

Questions about how Major League Baseball could cope with such a vile and dangerous fellow among their ranks were raised.

Grand Inquisitor Bud Selig, Overlord of the Diamond, decided I needed to attend mandatory sensitivity training sessions to atone for my sins.

Fortunately, that too passed, and despite the emotional trauma it wreaked upon my family and me, and the unwarranted reputation I will forever bear, it was merely one of the first shots in what looks to be a very long war. A war the liberal media has no intention of losing with their main weapon of choice coming in the form of vitriol and castigating commentary aimed at any individual who dares stray from their self-derived brand of “correct thought.” I was one of the first victims of such a warfare tactic, but certainly have not and will not be the last. Just as the British hanged traitors in the town square as a stern warning, so too does our liberal media seek to put on a pedestal of disgrace those who dare choose to express thoughts that taste different from their brand of Kool-Aid.

I am a successful guy, but I shudder to think about the average Joe working a 9 to 5 who’s forced to attend a ridiculous session in which his culture is denigrated. He can’t afford to speak up and lose his job, so he remains silent and consents to the tortuous humiliation being imposed upon him.

Your government does not care about your problems. It wants you to sheepishly accept the diversity narrative – and it has enough firepower, along with the will, to take out any and all dissenters.

This might seem a bit radical to some, but that’s what the math is telling me.

Wake up. Stop dreaming. Turn off the talking heads. Pay attention.

This is your country, and you are losing it along with your right to exist one step at a time.

The elites hope you won’t notice. Let’s prove them wrong.

Quote of the week: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take everything you have.” – Gerald Ford

Think about this for a second: Since the start of 2013, there have been 53 murders in Chicago; in Afghanistan, where Operation Enduring Freedom is entering its 13th year, only three members of the U.S. military have been killed in the same timeframe.

While members of the military fight for your freedoms abroad, the citizens of Chicago – President Barack Obama’s Chicago – are busy engaging in violence that threatens your freedoms here.

Specifically, the Second Amendment. In fact, it isn’t foreign threats or armies that endanger your constitutional right to bear arms, but it is the domestic threat of gun violence, gangs and thugs that represents the Trojan horse leading to the disarming of the law-abiding.

Think about this: 193 citizens of Chicago have been shot in 2013, largely by people in the city harnessing illegally obtained firearms. Worse, Gary McCarthy, the police superintendent of Chicago, has just made himself known as a domestic enemy of the Second Amendment.

McCarthy went on a Chicago Sunday morning talk show and tossed the Second Amendment under the proverbial bus. Reports RedState.com:

“Despite recent court decisions to the contrary, McCarthy opined that the Second Amendment limits citizens to owning smooth-bore muskets. McCarthy went on to say that he believes that the Second Amendment supports mandatory liability insurance for firearm owners and the mandatory application of GPS tracking devices to civilian owned firearms. ”

This is the same police chief who threatened to shoot concealed carry (CCW) holders in Chicago when the unconstitutional ban on CCW is lifted in the city:

“You put more guns on the street expect more shootings,” McCarthy said. “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms. People who are not highly trained … putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire, and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”

Have you ever heard of an individual carrying a CCW license walking around looking for trouble? Why would the police chief of a city threaten to shoot lawful holders of a state-issued licenses who merely carry a gun to defend themselves from the very people who are responsible for making Chicago a greater war zone than Afghanistan?

Three high school students have been gunned down in Chicago recently: 18-year-old Frances Colon, 18-year-old Janay McFarlane and, most notably, Hadiya Pendleton.

Remember: Only three members of the U.S. military have been killed in Afghanistan during a span covering the first 49 days of 2013. Three high schoolers have been shot dead in Chicago during the last 30.

Pendleton, the 15-year-old honor student who participated in the 2013 Presidential Inauguration event in Washington, D.C., has become the face of the gun-control movement.

President Barack Obama has used the tragic story of the death of Pendleton as a symbol for the push for greater gun-control restrictions, even giving a speech from Hyde Park Academy in Chicago Friday.

Destini Warren, Janay McFarlane’s sister, was on the stage President Obama spoke from at Hyde Park Academy; hours later, she would be just another victim of gun violence in Chicago.

WND has reported that an overwhelming amount of the violence gripping Chicago is situated in black-majority neighborhoods of the city, with black-on-black crime responsible for more than 75 percent of the murders since 2003.

The shooting death of Pendleton was no different, with two black gang members being charged with her slaying.

Michael Ward, 18, and Kenneth Williams, 20, have been charged, with Ward allegedly telling police that Hadiya had “nothing to do with it. She was simply there,” prosecutors said. They also say Williams gave Ward the gun and was the getaway driver.

Pendleton, whose funeral was attended by first lady Michelle Obama.

Chicago, where 4,265 people have been murdered since 2003 – compared to 2,166 American military personnel killed in the Afghanistan conflict since it started on Oct. 7, 2001 – offers a more unforgiving terrain than that found in the battlefields of the Middle East.

The Los Angeles Times reported American troops stationed in Afghanistan have just gone through the longest death-free stretch since 2008:

Over the last 25 days, something unusual has happened in Afghanistan: Not one U.S. service member has been killed. The lion’s share of the fighting – and dying – is now being done by Afghans.

The last American troop death, from injuries suffered in a December roadside bombing, occurred Jan. 20, marking the longest stretch without a fatality since 2008 and offering a glimmer of evidence that the United States’ 11-year war is in its twilight.

Back in 2010, a 30-year-old Thomas Wortham IV, a Chicago police officer who had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, was killed trying to defend his personal property in the Chatham community in the South Side of the city.

“This is a tragedy. This young man survived two tours in Iraq, and came home and got murdered on the streets in front of the house that he grew up in. In front of his father, it’s just unbelievable,” said Chicago native Alderman Freddrenna Lyle.

Just prior to being murdered in Chicago, Wortham talked about violence in the city with the Chicago Tribune after a number of shootings had closed a basketball court in the Chatham community:

“It’s starting to feel like it’s expected in this community,” Tom Wortham, 30, president of the Cole Park advisory council whose grandfather built a home across from the park 50 years ago, said of the violence. “When people think of the South Side of Chicago, they think violence. In Chatham, that’s not what we see. It’s happened, and we’re going to fix it, so it doesn’t happen again.”

Now ask yourself this: Is it the battlefields of Afghanistan or Chicago that represent the greatest threat to your constitutional liberties, specifically the right to bear arms?
