Many Democrats may not like Donald Trump, but some could be considered a bit obsessed with the president.
Take, for instance, U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, who is also deputy director of the Democratic National Committee.
Video was posted Monday of an April 27 event in which Ellison donned a blond wig to portray the commander in chief while playing guitar and singing his own version of "Guantanamera."
The lyrics include:
I'm a nice honest man,
I just want straight shootin'
If ya want to be called a stable genius,
I just call my best friend Vlad Putin,
Vlad Putin, My buddy Vladimir Putin,
Vladimir Putin, I love that Vladimir Putin,
But there was no collusion,
I just won the vote fair and square,
I didn't buy the election,
I just bought off my latest affair,
Robert Mueller, I hate that Robert Mueller,
I'm firing Robert Mueller, I'm firing Robert Mueller,
What good is 130 K,
I should have paid Stormy more,
You can stop asking about covfefe,
That's just Russian for porn,
Stormy Daniels, I miss you Stormy Daniels,
Stormy Daniels, Come back Stormy Daniels.
The performance was at an event called MinnRoast, put on annually by the Minnesota Post, and former Vice President Walter Mondale was in attendance this year.
Fox News host Sean Hannity called the video "bizarre" and "disturbing" and tweeted that "Trump DERANGEMENT Syndrome is on FULL DISPLAY."
John Sexton of HotAir said of Ellison's song, "This isn't what I'd call tremendous entertainment but the crowd seems to be enjoying it."
Ellison has sung songs to make political points in the past, as Sexton noted: "In 2017, he sang a version of the song 'Money' in his office to celebrate the $15 minimum wage. In 2013 he sang 'This Land is Your Land' to celebrate marriage equality."
