Bradley Manning-turned-Chelsea Manning, who was convicted of handing over classified sensitive U.S. military details to be published in WikiLeaks, has expressed surprise that Canada has refused him entry.
But many who noticed Manning's complaint on Twitter were not at all sympathetic.
"omg this 'treason' thing is so, like, annoying," commented David Rutz, who was joined by Seth Mandel: "Yeah treason tends to go on one's permanent record."
The ridicule followed Manning's complaint: "so, I guess Canada has permanently banned me? @CitimmCanada denied entry b/c of convictions similar to 'treason' offense."

Manning was sentenced in August 2013 to 35 years in a federal facility.
While in prison, he decided to identify as female and began "transitioning."

In January, President Obama commuted all but four months of Manning's sentence.
A notice posted online from the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, stated Manning "is a person who is a foreign national who has not been authorized to enter Canada and who, in my opinion, is inadmissible pursuant to: Paragraph 36(1)(b) in that there are reasonable grounds to believe is a permanent resident or a foreign national who is inadmissible on grounds of serious criminality for having been convicted of an offense outside Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute an offence under an Act of Parliament punishable by a maximum term of imprisonment of at least 10 years."
Twitchy launched into the sarcasm: "Really!? Chelsea Manning SHOCKED by reasons for being denied entry to Canada."
Alex Griswold responded to the complaint with, "Lol, get convicted of some light treason, and suddenly there are, like, consequences."
And Ben McDonald said, "Who would have thought that there would be penalties for committing treason."
Jodi McPhee Giddings said, "I guess they don't like traitors either."
"I love Canada now," said Stephen Miller.
Twitchy noted Manning plans to challenge the decision.
WND reported earlier this month when an offer of a fellowship to Manning by Harvard's Kennedy School of Government was withdrawn due to a backlash.
One year ago, there were reports Manning tried to commit suicide in prison.
In July 2014, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel approved a recommendation to initiate Manning's gender reassignment, allowing for counseling and dressing as a woman.
In February 2015, the U.S. Army approved hormone therapy for Manning.
