(New York Post) He was either too young, too small or only received an invite to the various scouting combines and high school camps because of his famous last name. Nobody seemed to take Christian McCaffrey seriously as a football prospect in his teens.
Some guessed he was a kicker. Others used the common stereotype that he couldn't be an effective running back or wide receiver because of his skin color.
"He's always proving himself," his father, Ed, the former Broncos All-Pro wide receiver, said in a phone interview, "to everybody."
These days, few are questioning his credentials — only raving about the sophomore Heisman Trophy candidate's escapades as college football's most versatile game-breaker.
