We are undone, and left with no weapons but prayers and tears. America has gone the way of the world. We have elected again and again and again those who hate good and love evil; they fill the halls of government from the least office of the frailest state to the highest office in the land. Look at the Department of Justice and the highest court in the nation and the executive office; they long and wish for war and confusion, and they revel in evil and clothe themselves with lies. Yet they are fast and furious to accuse men who strive after a little righteousness and truth.
If we are to be true to the ideal of the “city on a hill,” we must turn from the ways of the world – leaving perversions, murder and slaughter behind. We must most assuredly turn out of office those who advocate perversions, murder and slaughter. If we are that “city on a hill,” we must turn to the Lord God of hosts, who has endless irresistible power, who has absolute incontestable sovereignty and universal dominion.
We are that “city on a hill.” The House of God here resides. The world has heaped corruption upon us, that matches the corruption within us. That corruption abounds in those we have elected to govern far too often. Turn, turn! Turn from corruption and the world, not for more worldly gain, but to regain that which the founders sought: life. Turn – before we are undone and left with no weapons but prayers and tears.
