With the release of its February figures, Top9.com has ranked WorldNetDaily
for the third consecutive month in the top nine most-read news sources
on the World Wide Web.
With a jump from 133,000 "unique visitors" in December to 180,000 in
January -- the February rankings are based on January statistics --
WorldNetDaily is just 1,000 readers behind the government-subsidized
National Public Radio's NPR.org. A "unique
visitor" is counted only one time, even if the user logs on to a
particular site more than once within the survey period of time.
Characterizing itself as "the first Internet Ranking Search Directory
to be based on scientific market research data," Top9's current list of
top non-newspaper news sources goes like this: MSNBC.com, CNN.com,
ABCnews.com, CNBC.com, FOXnews.com, BBC.com, 4news.com, NPR.com and
WorldNetDaily.com.
Top9.com ranks websites using hard industry
data from PCDataOnline, an Internet
monitoring service. According to PCDataOnline, WorldNetDaily.com was the
89th fastest-growing website in the world in any category for the week
ending Jan. 29 and the 53rd fastest-growing site the previous week. It
is the fastest-growing news site of any kind.
The service also ranked WorldNetDaily.com as the 3,821st largest
website in the world and the 39th largest news service of any kind based
on unique visitors and the 20th largest based on pageviews, with more
than 6.2 million pages served in January.
In addition to being voted the world's most popular website for 35 of
the last 52 weeks on Global100.com, WorldNetDaily has also been
ranked for three of the last six months as the "stickiest" news site on
the Internet, even outperforming all sports sites in one of those
months. "Stickiness" is a measure of how much time visitors spend on a
website. Of all news sites, WorldNetDaily's visitors were determined to
spend an average of one hour and 33 minutes on the site, compared with
number two, ESPN whose visitors spent an average of 58 minutes.
WorldNetDaily.com has surpassed some of the largest news
organizations in the world -- such as the Associated Press, New York
Daily News, New York Post and even Nando.Net, the premier news site of
the McClatchy newspaper chain -- in monthly pageviews.
